Around Town October 2014 Cadette Journey "AmaZing" Weekend
Cadette "AmaZing" Weekend
Our Cadette girls from East Bridgewater completed their Girl Scout Journey in one weekend at Camp Wind-In-The-Pines down in Plymouth.
They learned about bullying, clicks, peer pressure, being a leader and making good choices. They had a lot of fun and really had a lot to talk about from their own personal experiences.
They made "Peacemaker" boxes, that were filled with ideas, solutions, and memories of the weekend.
At the "Trick Or Treat So They Can Eat Party" you will get to see their final stage of posters, or skits that they put together during they weekend. You will also see their posters in the Veterans Parade on Nov 11th.
As parents and troop leaders it was "AmaZing" to see how the girls respected and enjoyed being together.
One of their favorite item was the "Gorp"...which will be one of the staple food for all Journey Weekends!
Thank you to all the leaders and parents that made the weekend end possible, Thank you to one of our Senior Girl Scouts Madison Neas who helped leading the group during the weekend.
And a special Thank you to Kathleen McDonald, Troop Leader for troop 81157, who put it all together and made it possible!!
Below are some pictures from the weekend...
Good Afternoon,
As you may know, I happen to be the
proud Mom of Kaeleigh Smith, Capeway Distinguished Young Women 2014.
Kaeleigh is a life-long Girl Scout and a Gold Award Recipient.
Because
of our affiliation with both programs, we were asked to coordinate the
East and West Bridgewater Girl Scouts to invite them to be part of the
Distinguished Young Women 2015 Be Your Best Self Program. This is year's
program was created by Kaeleigh Smith. It is time for final numbers so
that enough supplies can be purchased.
The program will take place at West Bridgewater High School on November 15th at 11:00.
There is no cost to participate. The girls will be given a
complimentary ticket to come back at night to see the program. They will
be called up on stage during the evening to be recognized and given a
patch.
"Distinguished
Young Women of Massachusetts is an official state preliminary of
Distinguished Young Women, a national scholarship program that promotes
and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women. In
addition to earning scholarships for college, those who participate in
the Distinguished Young Women program develop friendships,
self-confidence and other life skills that pave the way for future
success. The Distinguished Young Women experience is open to every
eligible young woman and there is no cost to participate."
If
you have any questions or would like your daughter to attend, please
contact either Kaeleigh or myself. We need final numbers by November 7th.

Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat
Sunday November 2nd
in our neighborhoods
Party at St. John’s
basement
12:30-2:30 PM
The Girl Scouts in our town are collecting items for the Food Pantries!
The Girl Scouts will be visiting family, friends and neighbors in costume to collect food or toiletry items between
11 AM - noon on Sunday November 2nd.
The girls can leave postcards in mailboxes
or door hangers on knobs to let family, friends and neighbors
know a week or two in advance. If they will not be home during the collection time, they may leave the food out on their doorstep (clearly marked
with a tag for Girl Scouts),
or the girls can knock on doors in the neighborhoods where they live during this time frame.
Immediately following the collection of donations, there will be a party for the girls to celebrate
12:30-2:30 pm at St. John’s basement. The girls will bring their collected
items for the two food pantries in town and there will be Halloween
themed refreshments and games.
What better way to celebrate Juliette
Low’s birthday (October
31st) than by collecting donations for the food pantries in town for neighbors in need.
Please join us for this exciting service project and celebration!!!

New Fall Sale Program Incentives!!!!!!
Did you know that by participating in the Fall Product Sale Program again this year, you're eligible for a new incentive? The top 10 troops that increase their Fall Product sales:
- Achieving 10% growth over last year's Fall Sale performance AND
- Selling a minimum of 100 nut, candy and magazine items combined as a troop (15 of the 100 items sold must be the Holiday Helping Hands Tin)
will be among the first to choose one Council Organized Booth Sales (COBS) in January!
How it works:
1. The troop leaders for the top 10 troops that meet the above criteria will receive letters in November with available dates and locations of COBS for January.
2. The troop leader listed in the Girl Scout E-biz computer system will be contacted, therefore you need to make sure that the contact information is up-to-date by October 26, 2014.
3. Preferred COBS dates must be submitted by the deadline stated in the letter or the troop forfeits the opportunity, as the council will be opening the lottery to all troops.
Troops participating for the first time are not eligible for the above incentive, but still receive wonderful benefits for participating:
- A free digital photo book
- Variety of awesome incentives and recognition for girls
